San Diego's dining scene is a dynamic blend of local flavors and national influences, attracting a variety of restaurants from across the country. As someone who moved from Arizona to San Diego in 2008, I've had the pleasure of witnessing firsthand how our local culinary landscape has evolved, particularly with the addition of popular Arizona-based restaurants.

Arizona Meets the Pacific: The Expansion of Arizona Restaurants to San Diego

Approximately 5 to 7 years ago, a delightful trend began to take shape here in San Diego. Restaurants originally based in Arizona started to expand their horizons and opened new locations in our city. Well-known establishments like North and Blanco, part of the Sam Fox restaurant chain, were among the first to set up shop, bringing a taste of Arizona’s distinctive flavors to the San Diego food scene.

Most recently, the arrival of Postino WineCafe has added yet another Arizona favorite to our local dining options. Situated conveniently behind me as I write, Postino is known for its cozy atmosphere and excellent wine pairings, making it a perfect spot for casual gatherings and intimate evenings alike.

Exciting New Additions: Culinary Dropout and More

The expansion continues with the highly anticipated opening of Culinary Dropout at Del Mar Highlands. Known for its unique take on classic pub food and live music, Culinary Dropout promises to be a valuable addition to San Diego’s culinary diversity, offering something different for locals and visitors to enjoy.

A Personal Note: My Culinary Adventures in San Diego

When I'm not busy helping clients buy or sell homes, exploring San Diego's restaurant scene is one of my favorite activities. It's thrilling to see familiar Arizona names flourish in our city and to observe how they blend with and enhance our local culture. It brings a slice of my former home to my new one, enriching my personal and professional life.

Jenna Yost

Jenna Yost has spent her life and career making dreams a reality, whether they’re her clients dreams or her own. Jenna did just that when the Tucson Arizona native moved to San Diego in 2008. Living at the beach was always a dream, and she needed to make it a reality. She started fulfilling the dreams of others in 2012 when she entered real estate. Since becoming a full-time agent in 2015 and making partner at The Yost Quesada Team in 2018, as Lead Buyers Agent Jenna has helped hundreds of families buy and sell homes in San Diego. “I find a way to make it work and provide excellent world class service to create clients for life,” Jenna says. “I like to get creative and make sure to find a solution to all of my clients real estate needs. I am very accessible and always put the client first.” Deeply involved in the places she feels passionate about, Jenna lived on Catalina Island teaching environmental education, and she brings her wide experience as a business banker to her work as a real estate agent. Her specialties include working with both buyers and sellers, with a particular focus on experience with VA military buyers, coastal luxury homes, trust sales, and first-time buyers. Jenna also brings her passion to the charitable world as well. In 2011, Jenna began a non-profit organization called Cocktails for The Cure benefiting the Susan G. Komen foundation. Over the past six years they have raised more than $60,000 to donate toward breast cancer research. She’s also been involved as a board member for the Boys & Girls Club and active with a charity called Standup for Kids. In her spare time, Jenna enjoys hiking, Crossfit, and traveling. Deeply into fitness, Jenna has run three full marathons and more than thirty half marathons. She also, of course, loves spending time where she always dreamed about, the beach.
